MISSION AGENCY FEEDBACK

Jim O'Neill, President, CrossWorld (formerly UFM)

- We were looking for two couples to serve as a laison between our field ministries and national authorities. After searching the Finishers Project database, we found two remarkable couples on the Eastern seaboard and had them to our offices for interviews. Both were an excellent fit, having appropriate life-experience, including a military background, and a heart for God.

Kelly McCelland, Pioneers

- Finishers Project was the method God used to help us during our transition from overseas to US-Based mission ministry. As a "finisher," second career missionary, former Candidate Secretary, and after 10+ years of field ministry, I can think of no better resource to assist candidates to find their place in missions!

Marilyn Meyers, LAM

- We have greatly benefited from the frequent match notifications listing and in opportunities at various Finishers Conferences — At least 5 families are in process becoming LAM missionaries via Finishers! Two families are already serving (Colombia and Chile).

Stanley Z, MSI (New ministry partner)

- PTL! We engaged the first candidate MSI has received from your Finishers Project Website! Wow! I talked to him this morning for 45 minutes. (He called me.) I am really excited for the process. More excited for how God has prepared Kirk and Susan for China. Kirk tells me he has been working other organizations that helped prepare them for China through many activities, prayer, short term trips, etc. I will send him applications to develop a closer relationship to know them and sense what God has for them. We chatted about so much in a short time. Thank you the work of the team in Finishers. Now we must take the ball.

Kathy Hicks, OM International

- Through the web site, I made contact with a man who had joint ownership of a cable company. Through our discussions with him, we discerned that he had skills that we could use, and he is now the Director of Personnel for OM.

- I received an urgent email from our staff in Israel; they had an old apartment building that needed some immediate maintenance work and repairs. Using the Search engine on the web, I came up with 14 names; I sent out an email and received two responses. One was a family with two children who were very interested in going. They were able to go to Israel for a month and complete all the necessary maintenance and repairs.

- At the National Conference, we interviewed a couple from the West Coast. They are taking a vision trip to Africa and will then be doing development work for OM in California.

Mike Gallagher, Wycliffe Bible Translators

- Through the Finishers matching feature, we received a couple who were raised in the Philippines and were now US citizens. He has a passion for the Philippines and is computer skilled; his wife is a Certified Pubic Accountant. They visited the Dallas International Center and discovered a genuine match. They are now in the application process; he will be working in our International data base and she in our International Finance Dept.

- The security issue is very important in the world today. One profile that appeared as a match for Wycliffe mentioned security, so I talked with him and found that he had 25 years in international security. He visited our Dallas office and has already volunteered his skills and experience in helping Wycliffe branches around the world; he will be coming onboard full time in the near future.

Carl Payne, World Team

- Using the Super Search feature, I searched for a Principal for a Christian School in the Dominican Republic and came up with a couple of names. One was a recently retired principal of a Christian school. He and his wife have made a trip to the Dominican Republic and will be leaving next month and he will be the full-time principal for that school.

- A couple who had heard about Finishers called to see if there was anything they could d They had one day a week that they could give to missions. I asked them if they would be willing to do some initial research on a that is required to be done before entering a new unreached people group. They accepted the offer and each week, spent one day doing the research we needed.

- I had a request from our Haitian field for someone who could repair analog radio equipment at a Christian radio station. I did a Super Search and came up with a dozen names. From that list I identified a person who had just recently retired and was very familiar with the equipment. He will be going to Haiti for a short-term trip in January to help repair radio equipment.

John Briggs, Mission Builders International

- As a result of attending the Finishers Forum in Denver two years ago, MBI successfully recruited a key couple who are now involved working with MBI in Facility Development Ministry.

- As a result of the link from the Finishers web site, a couple in the Northwest corner of Montana called us and said, "What can we do? Where can we go? We are a family of five and we are first-timers." We offered them Gleanings for the Hungry in Central CA during spring break. They went and a few months later we received an email saying, "Thank you, thank you, thank you." As a result of their work with Gleanings for the Hungry they went home and inspired their church and their Christian school to send teams to Gleanings for the Hungry to work this summer. In addition, this family requested their next assignment - they want to head overseas.

- To show that missions is not limited by age, an 82-year old retired engineer went to Nepal to work on a project building a birthing clinic.. There are now three guys there working on that clinic; they are 65, 67, and 82 years old!

Martin Huyett, Wycliffe Associates

- From the first Forum, a couple contacted Wycliffe Associates. They had a property appraisal business. We found that she was very personable and cordial; she is now the coordinator to get the volunteers to the field. They work from their home and follow up on contacts.

- From the Atlanta conference, we found someone to head up the Children's ministry curriculum and staffing for our missionary conferences.

Paul Erny, OMS International

- We have several finishers serving right now in OMS. Marv, a retired fire-fighter, and Mary O. are in their 60's and now serving Summers in Spain at our camp.

- Paul and Faythe P. are retired teachers now serving at our MK school in Indonesia.

- Donn and Daisy T. in their 50's went to Japan over the past summer and are planning to return next year to teach.

- Doris W. is retired from banking and now at 67 is going to Mozambique to work with our mission team for one year.

- Retired teachers Rolf and Charlene G. will be teaching English in Ecuador for three months in January.

Wally Rieke, SIM USA

- Ray and Karen came to SIM at 51 after given an opportunity for early retirement. In about two month's time they committed to taking one year in Asia to direct the distribution of books to Pastors and Christian workers in an Asian country. They will be instrumental in getting these resources into the hands of 15,000 national Pastors and workers who teach 3 million people in the churches they lead. This year Ray and Karen may impact more people for God's kingdom than many Christians will in 10 lifetimes.

- Monica was a high school science teacher considering how to best retire and use her remaining years. Her plan was to enjoy the fruit of her years of work by traveling around Europe until the Lord got her attention. She connected with SIM, attended Candidate Orientation and is now teaching at a MK school in Bolivia where she has initially committed to serve for one year.

- Dr. Perry and his wife, Brenda, took a short-term missions trip to Malawi 2 years ago. They subsequently contacted SIM since we work in that country. About a year and a half later the family completed the application process, sold their home, separated from the medical practice they were building and taken a course on tropical medicine to prepare for the work ahead. God provided a team of financial and prayer supporters and are leaving for Africa with their two children 7 and 3 to share their skills and their faith.
