Field Name |
Explanation |
Username |
The Finishers Project office assigns the Username to partners in good standing. To change this to something more familiar let us know at office@finishers.org |
Password |
Initially the Finishers Project office assigns the Password. You can change this to something more familiar. If the password is lost, the Finishers Project office cannot retrieve it but we can create another. |
Name |
This is the full name of your organization, as it is generally known. This is the text that appears in a users "shopping cart" of ministry opportunities. |
Abbreviation |
This is a short name by which some organizations are better known, such as CCC, OM or YWAM. It is searchable by users just as the full organization name. |
Contact Name |
This should be the name of the person dealing with the leads that come to your organization. People will generally email, call or write this person. The Contact Name can be the "Office of Recruitment", for example. |
Contact Email |
This is the email address to which initial inquiries will come if people wish to send a message directly from your ministry listing. Some agencies may find it useful to set up a generic name such as
<opportunities@missionagency.org>
that can be accessed by whoever is on watch. Anytime new matches are found, a message will come to this address notifying your organization of this fact. |
Alternate Contact |
This is another contact person that can be listed. If a generic office is used for the principal Contact Name this field should be a real person. It may be useful to include the persons title after the name. The Alternate Contact is optional and provided for information only. |
Alternate Email |
This is intended to be another point of entry to the alternate contact. No messages are automatically sent to this address from the Finishers Project web site. This field also is optional. |

This is the partner organization postal address. Use a P.O. Box address if that is where mail is normally sent. |

This is the web address in full. Include the " http:// " |
Logo |
You logo can be entered onto the ministry page.
It must be uploaded as a jpg or gif file, for example.
It must be resident on your computer to do this.
There is no adjustment to the size, so do not upload something too big.
The logo should not exceed 480 pixels (about 6 1/2 inches) width or the page will be distorted.
The logo will appear on the page for users that has a cream-colored background with a HTML color value="#fffded". If your art people can alter the background it will look a little better on the user page. If not, fine. It will appear with a 1 pixel table border. |
Description |
This is a brief description of the mission and vision of your mission agency. It is suggested it not be too generic, but tell your story. Do not make it too long or it will not be read. Initially this field was seeded with the information that appears on the static section of the page. |
Regions |
This will indicate where your organization serves. The key contact person should be aware of what ministry services are needed in each region. (Generally, people have no preference as to where they might offer their skills, so this area is simply Regions rather than a listing of specific countries.) Be careful when doing a search by Regions. Those that have indicated "No Preference" will not show up if any region is selected in the search engine. |
Time Commitment |
People generally do have a sense of the length of time they are willing to serve at the onset. Users can only select only one choice. So, if your agency has 3-month assignments and people enter 6 months 2 years, these people may still be willing to consider opportunities offered by your agency. |
Vision Trip |
This is a Yes or No choice |
Vision Trip Description |
If the Vision Trip answer is "yes", describe the nature and length of a trip your mission agency offers to people to help them understand the purpose and vision of your organization. This may be used for recruiting, but is more often used to give church leaders and large donors a sense of your activities for purposes of developing people and financial resources. |
Awareness Trip |
This is a Yes or No choice |
Awareness Trip Description |
If the Awareness Trip answer is "yes", describe the nature and length of a trip you offer to people to help them understand the needs in world missions and of your organization. Generally, the purpose of an "Awareness Trip" is for recruiting. It works best to capture the imagination and the heart of those that may fit your ministry well and you would like to the Lord to recruit to join your vision. This could, for example, be recruitment dinners like "Windows on Wycliffe".
If the truth be known, you can define Vision Trip and Awareness Trips however you wish. However, please do not enter anything here that you are not prepared to act on. |
Languages |
This is a new field as of early June 2001. It will only be populated by new users unless previous users return to make any changes. So it will take some time before a search by language will yield useful results. In some cases mention of language skills may be in the comment field. |
Ministry Preferences |
This is the area where the matching will be most useful. The key contact person in your organization should be able to defend each entry or know immediately who can.
This list was taken from the Urbana 1996 list and updated after Urbana 2000. Let us know at <office@finishers.org> if other categories will be useful. We will collect these over time and make several changes at once. |
