Although marital fidelity has not been a high value for the Yanomani, they do form tight family groups. They seem to like the idea of being faithful to their spouse, but unfaithful behavior habits die hard.

They are not sure who the father is in many cases, so a male sibling, for example, is referred to as cousin-brother.
