How will I know if a recommended match really fits me?
How else might I/we determine a fit?
How do I consider the financial obligations for my family?

  1. Is Finishers Project a job/ministry matching service?
This is true, in part. The Finishers Project allows you to submit a detailed profile of you and your spouse the web. This service provides you, at no cost, with a "shopping cart" of organizations that are custom fit for you, depending on your life situation and choice of preferences.

The Finishers Project is designed to provide information, challenge and pathways for people to enter missions from their careers, whether 25 or 75 years of age.

  2. How will I know if a recommended match really fits me?
This is the number one question people have in evaluating ministry options, or marketplace options for that matter. How will a career facilitator assist?

Seeking a ministry role on your own that uses your years of life experiences and occupational skills can take considerable search time. Many of us are experts in our fields, but are not professionals at handling career change (or our finances). So, after the your search is done, there is no assurance that a future ministry option is a good fit.

This type of service adds a significant resource to aid in setting your life direction — a certified and experienced counselor to discuss your future aspirations. Your counselor also helps evaluate your aptitudes so that they can be matched to the very best ministry options. This significantly reduces your risk of the unknown and saves hours or even months of research.

  3. How else might I/we determine a fit?
The best way is begin to build a relationship with a mission agency in the next several months. Take a short-term mission trip or two to venues of interest. Willow Creek Community Church, IL was surprised to discover that those that are maturing the most rapidly in the Lord, attribute the Christian growth to their involvement in cross-cultural ministry — home or abroad.

  4. How do I consider the financial obligations for my family?
This is the number two question people have in deciding whether to transition from the marketplace to ministry. See the entire section of "Funding your Calling" for helps and ideas, whatever your current financial situation.
  5. Will I need seminary or Bible college training?
  6. This depends on the type of ministry assignment you might consider. Many of the Finishers Project partner mission agencies evaluate each candidate individually, giving credit for life-study and life-experience.
